Questions and Answers

How to install the Electric Fence ?

An energizer cannot be kept outdoors. It must be kept indoors to prevent damage from the weather. In order to discharge all its current, it must be earthed by inserting 3 galvanized 1 meter stakes into the ground. They must be placed 3 m apart, 80 cm in the ground (wet) and 20 cm outside, and then connected with the yellow-green cable. The device has a red positive cable at its output which is connected to the fence and a yellow-green cable which is connected to the first ground stake. Never connect two electrifiers to the same wire, as the two impulses may cancel each other out, causing problems. You can connect two electrifiers to the same fence, but keep them on two separate lines of wire.

For a B12 energiser it is sufficient to use a 12V 40Ah car battery. The autonomy, if there is no dispersion in the electric fence, is about 10/12 days. Otherwise it lasts less.

Why insert 3 poles for the grounding of the electric fence?

Grounding is a fundamental thing for the functionality of the electric fence for animals, so it is recommended to do it correctly. To have the total discharge of current by the energiser, it is necessary to make the grounding by inserting 3 galvanized poles of 1 meter in the ground. They must be positioned 3 meters apart, 80 cm in the wet ground and 20 cm outside, and then connect them with the yellow cable. Together with the electric fence, we supply only 1 meter of cable that must be connected to the first pole. It is recommended to do it where there is the presence of vegetation, therefore a moist soil. Arid soil is not conductive. According to the tests carried out, placing 3 poles in any type of terrain, there will be no problem with functionality. If you put only one stake, the power of the current felt will be less than its range and the animals will be able to cross the fence.

I have recently purchased the chimney fan, when I switch it on at the first speed it does not work, why?

There is no problem, the smoke extractor works normally. The chimney fan is designed to ensure normal running-in of the internal bearings. The fan should initially be run in at higher speeds and after a few minutes it can be switched to lower speeds. This mode of operation should only be followed for the first month, after which it will also run at lower speeds.

Where should the chimney fan regulator be installed?

The regulator of the chimney fan for fireplaces must be connected to the 220 V current and can be installed in any area, the important thing is that it is not placed near heat sources. In fact, inside the regulator of the chimney fan there is a transformer that works at high temperatures.

How much does the chimney fan weigh?

The weight of the fan, excluding the speed regulator, is about 20 kg.

Is the chimney smoke extractor noisy?

No. The chimney fan is silent at any speed. Of course, if you set it to the sixth speed, the fan makes more than 1300 revolutions per minute, so you will hear a slight humming sound. But to solve the problem of smoke, the fan should be used at low speeds, from the first speed up to the third speed. At these speeds the sound pressure does not exceed 38 Db, i.e. zero noise.

Can it be mounted on a round chimney base?

Yes, we supply adapters for round flues (those indicated in the product drop-down menu). To order the adapter, simply select the round flue and choose the size of the adapter you wish to purchase from the drop-down menu. You have to take into consideration the external diameter because our adapter for flues fits externally to its outlet. If the chimney has an external diameter of 25 cm, the ideal chimney adapter will be 25 cm in the drop-down menu.

Can it be mounted on a very high round chimney ?

Yes, thanks to the suction power of the chimney fan there is no problem even on chimneys longer than 50 meters.

Does the chimney fan solve the problem also in case of strong wind ?

Certainly, our chimney fan is suitable in case of strong wind because it solves the problem of smoke.

If it rains, will water seep into the chimney fan?

No, the base of the chimney smoke extractor has been raised to prevent water infiltration in the event of rain.

If the power goes out, and the chimney fan switches off, does it plug the smoke outlet?

No, the chimney fan does not plug the smoke outlet if it is switched off. For this reason it is possible to switch on the chimney fan only in certain situations, for example when raising the stove door or in case of strong wind.

At what distance from the flame should the chimney fan be placed?

The professional fan for fireplaces can be installed at any height, even on flues of 1 meter. On the other hand, the basic model of the chimney fan is recommended for chimneys over 3 m high.

How long can I leave the chimney smoke extractor on?

There is no time limit. The chimney smoke extractor can work all day without any problem.

What is the size of the chimney smoke extractor?

The base of the electric chimney fan is standard 43x43 cm, the height is 35 cm, without the brackets. Considering the brackets it is 50 cm. For more specific measurements, a diagram showing the measurements of each individual part of the electric fireplace extractor fan is available on our website.

Does the chimney extractor fan also extract heat?

Our electric smoke extractor has a 6-speed regulator, so you only need to set it to speeds of 1-2 to help extract smoke naturally, but not heat. Basically, at the first two speeds, we are not altering in any way the normal operation of a fireplace, which would normally disperse a very small amount of heat in the smoke rising in the flue pipe. The Gemi chimney fan sucks up the smoke that would otherwise go into the house and therefore, certainly, would not produce any heat sources for the indoor environment. It is clear that if the chimney fan does not operate at the sixth speed (usually at this speed it is used to change the air in rooms, to help start fires or to suck up the ashes), with its 2500m³/h(basic) - 3800m³/h(pro) it will be so powerful that it will also suck up the heat, because it will increase the speed of combustion of the wood and consequently partially reduce the heat. Scientific studies have shown that the Gemi smoke extractor can control heat loss, so it is advisable to use a chimney to prevent heat loss. This can be seen in the millions of satisfied customers all over the world since 1983, when the first Gemi chimney fan was created.

What is the difference between the various models of smoke extractors?

The basic model has a suction capacity of 2500 m³/h, a 3-year warranty and can withstand up to 300 degrees. The professional model can withstand up to 700 degrees (therefore also in case of a chimney fire) and is recommended if you have a chimney of less than 3 meters. It also has a 6-year warranty and sucks in 3800 m³/h. The steel model is built entirely in Aisi 304 stainless steel, a material that ensures greater resistance to corrosion and saltiness and therefore over time. It has a suction power of 3800m³/h and a resistance of up to 700°, guaranteed for 8 years. The top of the range offered by Gemi is the professional copper model, resistant up to 700°, with a 10-year warranty and capable of sucking up 3800 m³/h. The stainless steel fan resists corrosion and saltiness. It is fully painted on the outside (including the base) and is therefore suitable for those looking for a more aesthetically pleasing product.
